Spellbound Poetry Slam

  • The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative 306 East Main Street Charlottesville, Virginia 22902 United States (map)

Led by Michelle Dodd, a poet who has been slamming for over a decade, this is a new space for a side of Virginia that hasn't had consistent poetry slams. Dodd's goal is to open a new avenue for the writers and performers of Charlottesville. She wants to give people a platform and a memorable experience.

What is a poetry slam?

A poetry slam is a vocal competition. Each poet has 3 minutes and 10 seconds to perform a poem of their choosing for a group of 5 judges, who will score their work from 0.0-10.0.

Compete for a chance to be on a 5-person team that will be going to the Southernfried Regional Poetry slam in June of 2024.

Bring your poems! Bring your energy! Bring your heart! Leave it all on the stage! Reward yourself, knowing you performed your poetry to the best of your ability! Meet other poets who share your passion and ambition! Make connections! Fall in love with their work and your own!

This is more than just a slam! This is a hub for creativity and inclusion.

Let's go!
